Shake Your tail-feathers!
CONGRATULATIONS to
Yvonee, Erica, and Kayce! Ladies, check your email.
I just finished my Thanksgiving turkey unit in the nick of time.
Is anyone else wondering where November went?
I have my lessons ready to go and everything for next week prepared which means I can enjoy this fabulous 3 day weekend. If you're planning and preparing still, be sure to head to my Teachers Pay Teachers store and check out my Thanksgiving units.
Here are a few sample pictures from my newest unit...
This is an accordion book which could be used for so many skills. I plan to use it to introduce next weeks words. There's just something about giving students paper to fold and 3 minutes to color that gets their attention! They'll listen to whatever you want them to put in the little boxes because they'll be loving their mini book. Promise!
My favorite project that we do during this time of year...
I love discussing the things that we are thankful for. These are the moments that you see the world through a child's eyes. It always warms my heart when they say they're thankful for ME!
This unit also includes a page similar to this turkey for students to write what they are thankful for. I take these pages and make them into a class book so we can enjoy reading it together. The turkeys go home.
Hand prints for holidays have been around for years and I can still remember doing them when I was in school. I wanted to make sure to capture some memories for mom and dad as we discuss the things we're thankful for this holiday season.
If you would like this unit for free, leave a comment telling me 3 things you are thankful for...I will choose 3 random winners this weekend.
What 3 things are you thankful for?
I'm thankful for my family, job and my fiance. Love the thankful turkey!

I'm thankful for my family, a teaching job that I love, and diet Coke :)
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for being given the opportunity to take a leave of absence and stay home with my kids for a year. I have a three year old daughter who had battled unexplained fevers and seizures for 2 years after contracting meningitis in 2010 and a 6 month old son who had a softball sized kidney removed when he was only 7 weeks old. My daughter was not expected to fully recover from the meningitis and coma that the repeated seizures put her in, but she since has. My son was not expected to make it full term, but he did. He also was listed as a failure to thrive at one month of age and was hospitalized with feeding tubes, but he is now in the 75th percentile for weight and height. HMMM... maybe "thankful" is an understatement?
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for my family, my 18 fabulous firsties, and all the creative teachers out there who are so willing to share their awesome ideas with others!
ReplyDeleteI am thankful for a good job, good health and a fantastic family!

My students from Seaford Harbor Elementary School have been shaking their tail feathers at another school after their's was closed due to Hurricane Sandy. They truly have been thankful for having another school to go to. Many families from this community have been removed from their homes and leaving else where. These children are truly amazing and I am thankful for their smiles and putting their best foot forward. I know they would just love this cute unit. All the best for posting such cute and amazing units. Jessica (rkoudelka@yahoo.com)

ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for way more than 3 things! But if I have to choose... I am thankful for my family. I have 2 parents who have been married for 31 years and are wonderful role models, and 2 awesome little sisters that I adore even when they get on my nerves. :-) I have the sweetest little dog named Molly who is my whole world. She greets me every day when I come home and makes all my worries and problems just melt away when I see that wagging tail. And I am thankful for my 20 little first graders, who are so wonderful and sweet. I love coming to work to see them every day! They make me laugh and they have so much to teach me.
ReplyDeleteThanks for creating wonderful units like this! I've been trying, but with grad school 2 nights a week and a job, it's hard!
