Today I went to a presentation from textbook publishers for new Reading/ELA books. These series are all based on NC Core Standards so I am not sure if there will be too many of you who have information on them. If you do though, I would love to hear your thoughts! I have to give the information to each grade level at my school. Thanks in advance for any advice. The choices are...
Journeys from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt
Reading Street from Pearson Scott Foresman
Treasures from Macmillan McGraw-Hill
We use the Reading Street program in my school with a lot of success.

This is our first year using Journeys from Houghton Mifflin Harcourt...there's a lot of components to the series...but so far so good. I really like the stories.

We use Journeys too. I like it. No major complaints from me! :)

We are in our second year using the Reading Street program. It is a good program packed with a LOT of pieces. I like it a lot more now that I have used it almost two full years. You learn how to "pick and choose" the best and most important parts each week.
ReplyDeleteWe just started using Reading Street this year and I am amazed at how well our students are doing. Our population is 85% or more ELL and they are just soaring. Yes, it has a lot of components, but as with everything, you need to pick and choose what you use. Great assessments both formative and summative. I really lime it.

This is the first year our school has used Journey's too. I like it. There is a lot of components to it, like someone mentioned above, but the literature is pretty good.
